Cinco De Mayo

Students at Tatum Primary School will be participating in Cinco De Mayo activities on Friday, May 3, 2013.

We need your help with this event. If you would like to make a donation, please select any item(s) below and return this form to your child’s teacher.

Additionally, we are asking for parent volunteers.

Non-Perishable items can be returned any day before May 3rd. Cooked food items must be returned on May 3^rd no later than 8:00 a.m.

sumdog information

ATTENTION:
Miss. Fyffe's class will have their own sumdog accounts in a few weeks! Keep an eye out for their login information. A note will be put in their take home folders explaining sumdog.

We love logging on to sumdog.com and practicing our Math and English skills. I'm sure you've heard your child talk about this wonderful website. There are tons of educational games for all different levels.... Although the year is coming to an end... your child will be able to log on to their account over the summer!! This website will help your child retain what they have learned in first grade and learn new skills as they advance. I highly recommend looking at this website yourself and seeing what all the hype is about.

*Don't have a computer at home? Tatum's public library does :) Just be sure you have your library card to gain access to the computers.

Recycle

Our recycle bins are located between the yellow and blue hallway.

 

We are collecting items for our Earth Day Recycle Drive

Lima Beans

Ask your child about the Lima Beans we are growing in class :)

Is your child getting stuck on a word while you're reading?

If your child gets stuck on a word have them ask the following questions...

1. Does it have a sneaky "e" at the end of the word? If so then the vowel in the middle of the word will say it's name

2. Are there two vowels walking? If so then the first vowel says it's name and the second vowel is silent.

3. Does the word have a "Bossy R"? IR ER UR AR

Place Value and Technology

We are learning about place value as well as what an odd and even number looks like!
Here you will see our class creating numbers with their blocks and using the tablets to write the number. We worked with partners during this activity and grew together in this first grade skill!

We use a wonderful website in our first grade class and you can use the FREE version at home :)

Go to... Spellingcity.com and type in your spelling words. Your child can play fun and exciting games while learning their spelling words. You child knows how to type their words in and what games they are allowed to play.
